Aminomethyl Propanol (AMP) is a neutralizing agent with primary amine functionality, water- and alcohol-solubility and excellent toxicity profile. Aminomethyl Propanol (AMP) is ideal for:
- Aerosol spray products
- Pump sprays
- Styling gels and mousses
- After-sun coolers
- Hand sanitizers
- Sunscreen lotions
- Hair colorants
The low molecular weight of Aminomethyl Propanol (AMP) typically permits one-third less amine to be used for neutralization than is required for most other cosmetic grade amines. Its low volatility and low vapor pressure result in low odor and a non-VOC (volatile organic content) status listing in the state of California. AMP provides superior color stability versus other amines and is compatible with virtually all fixative resins.
AMP can be used with various types of thickeners - Carbomer, Acrylates, and Cellulose-based. AMP enables the formulation of hand sanitizers with a high percentage of ethanol (up to 80%) and creates crystal clear gels when neutralizing polymers. It has excellent long term stability in formulations.
