euxyl™ K 900 preservative

euxyl™ K 900 preservative is a liquid cosmetic preservative based on benzyl alcohol and ethylhexylglycerin. The addition of ethylhexylglycerin affects the interfacial tension at the cell membrane of microorganisms, improving the preservative activity of benzyl alcohol. Its use is permitted both in products that remain on the skin as well as in rinse-off products. euxyl™ K 900 preservative has a broad, balanced spectrum of effect against bacteria, yeasts and mold fungi.
euxyl™ K 900 preservative is equally effective against bacteria, yeasts and mold fungi. It is a typically biostatic product with the biocidal properties necessary for practical use.
euxyl™ K 900 preservative is stable to hydrolysis, temperature and pH. It is effective in pH ranges up to 12.
euxyl™ K 900 preservative has good chemical compatibility with anionic surfactants such as sulphates, ether sulphates and sulphosuccinates, as well as with non-ionogenic surfactants. Ethoxylated surfactants may lead to a loss of effectiveness.
The tocopherol in euxyl™ K 900 preservative is GMO-free and complies with the criteria of NATRUE and COSMOS (including Ecocert) for natural products.
Applications
euxyl™ K 900 preservative is recommended for use in multiple personal care products including shower gels, shampoos, body washes, creams, lotions, and wet wipes. It is not suitable for anhydrous products.
euxyl™ K 900 preservative contains:

While euxyl™ K 900 preservative is classified as a "mild" preservative as formulated, the raw material should be handled with care as the full strength preservative causes severe eye irritation and may cause tissue damage.

Solubility: In water euxyl™ K 900 preservative is only limitedly soluble. 100 g water at 20 °C dissolve approx. 1g euxyl™ K 900 preservative. In the polar solvents such as 1,2-propylene glycol, glycerol, triethylene glycol, 2-phenoxyethanol euxyl™ K 900 preservative is unlimitedly soluble. In non-polar solvents it is only limitedly soluble, in pure hydrocarbons it is practically insoluble.
