It is recommended to pre-mix BarThix™ with a glycol (like glycerin) prior to addition to water. If mixing with a propeller, BarThix™ should be heated in water at 70°C to help hydrate. If mixing with a homogenizer, heating isn't necessary. Can be heated up to 90°C.
BarThix™ exhibits thixotropic behavior when subjected to high shear. The presence of monovalent salts like NaCl may increase the viscosity of BarThix™ gels when used up to 1%. BarThix™ has some compatiblity with low levels of divalent salts like MgSO4 (at less than 0.5%).
Typical Use Rate: 0.50 - 2%, piling may occur when used above 2%
